June is usually a busy month for anyone involved in weddings. We were blessed to be a part of Nathan and Kayla's wedding held in Lufkin at the Loop 287 Church of Christ. As sweet and considerate as they are good looking, their inner beauty showed through every time we were providing portrait services. 2010 Seniors... you're gonna want to see this!

We, at G. What's all the BUZZ!

SFA Senior

G. Patterson Studio is well known across East Texas for our portraits of High School Seniors, but we are also happy to boast a number of College Seniors.  Sarah was one of our recent sessions, and we had such a great time!  She has a fun personality and was great to work with.  Congratulations Sarah on graduating and we wish you the best as you begin your first year of teaching in Plano.

A look behind the camera-Greg Patterson Photographer

By request, here is another look at behind the camera. I love to photograph seniors and especially enjoy our URBAN session where we photograph in historic downtown Nacogdoches. There is so much texture, urbanscapes and history, its a great place to capture unique images. 

Quite often I'm asked, "what camera do you shoot with?" or "what lens are you using?" I can honestly tell you its taken years of training and experience to get the look that we get in our portraits. I believe that's why we regularly have seniors travel several hours. It's not just a camera or lens, its the photographer that makes everything come together. PLUS...beyond the awesome photography, we are nice people too with some amazing senior products and packages.

Jordan S. - Woden Class of 2009

Seniors are sooo busy these days and Jordan is no exception. She is a member of the varsity woman's basketball team. One of those Woden eagles!! We had an awesome time capturing some amazing senior portraits.

We recently has an up-and-coming Southern Gospel Superstar come in for some fun and creative portraits that she could use for promotions. Thanks Tiffany for allowing us to capture her fun personality and charm. And YES she can play guitar and walk at the same time!!! 

LaPorte Texas Senior

We are very grateful to have clients that come from all over. Krista attends LaPorte HS about three hours from Nac. Even though they had a few difficulties with the trip, Krista and her mom arrived with smiles and a desire to have fun!!! As you can see, her senior portraits are breathtaking!

Baby Emma

"Big blue eyes and a heart of gold" I think was written just for baby Emma. She was so cute when she got tickled, and started smiling with a BIG grin while shaking her head. I'm certain she will bring daily blessings to both Christie & Robert!

Creede & Libby

This past week, BIG SISTER Libby and brother Creede came for a portrait session. Libby had come in before when we had our live bunnies (YES they are coming back..so stay tuned) but this time she brought her adorable brother. Thanks Hannah for allowing us to capture this special moment in time!

Emily and Brian Beene

Emily and Brian Beene were married just a few short weeks ago on one of the BEST days of the year, my anniversary! We are excited to see Emily and Brian in wedded bliss enjoying every day! Honestly, it just gets better!

They were married at First Methodist Church of Nacogdoches with the reception a simple walk to our very own Fredonia Hotel. Flowers were from Roderick of Texas and the cake by Confections by Teresa (both in Lufkin and one of our preferred vendors-see our wedding website for a complete list).

Greg Patterson - Behind the Camera

I thought I would share a little behind the camera look at me (Greg Patterson) working and what the final image looks like. 

As a photography professor at SFA, I have the privilege of teaching photography to over 100 students each semester. One aspect of photography that I teach is composition. There are some tips to get started, but honestly its something that is practiced and learned over many years. As a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience, I have dedicated myself to this ART as well as our studio to providing amazing quality, service and products. Today's digital cameras are good, but when you hire a professional, you should get professional results!

When considering portraits for those important times in your life (weddings, kids growing up, graduation senior portraits, family, etc.) don't make the mistake of thinking that a "good camera" will give you quality results. Find a professional that has experience and the promise of a guarantee.

Ran - Senior 2009

We had an awesome time photographing Ran, a senior class of 2009, yesterday. Even though we are in the dead of winter, shooting outside was great! With many senior guys, our URBAN session is an excellent choice with tons of texture and unique opportunities. 

Great job Ran on the session (he was a natural) and congrats on being just a few short months away from graduation!!

Whitney & Adam Perry

One of the coolest wedding couples would have to be Whitney & Adam! You only have to be around them a few minutes to tell that they are PERFECT for each other. Their Friday night wedding was beautiful, held at the Stallings Drive Church of Christ here in Nacogdoches. The reception followed at the Fredonia Hotel. Besides the wedding couple and slideshow, the hottest reception item was the fabulous wedding cake by Cindy Metteauer.

Trent & Kelley Phillips Storybook

Speaking at Nacogdoches Photographic Association

I had the privilege to speak last night at the Nacogdoches Photographic Association meeting as their keynote speaker. They asked me to come share a little about being a professional portrait photographer, what I specialize in and about teaching photography at Stephen. F. Austin.

I gave a few tips on "What makes a Great Portrait" and shared a slide show featuring children and high school senior portraits. There were about 35-40 people in attendance, many with great questions. Pat Wallace, vice president of NPA said in regards to the program I presented, "We got a great response from our members!"
